Lava Falls is the largest navigable rapid in the North America. By navigable it means you can attain the rapid going up stream ... obviously not possible for most waterfalls. It was the only rapid in the Grand Canyon that we scouted before running. And for all the hype and talk about danger it only lasted eight seconds!
